Scarboro’s Chris Kuster Named Trainer of the Year at 2025 SLSWA Awards of Excellence

Scarboro Surf Life Saving Club is proud to announce that Chris Kuster has been awarded Trainer of the Year at the Surf Life Saving WA Awards of Excellence, held on 14 June 2025.
Chris’ dedication to surf lifesaving education and leadership shone through in an outstanding year of training achievements. Over the 2024–25 season, Chris delivered 131 hours of training across 10 courses, supporting 90 candidates to develop their lifesaving skills and qualifications.
Taking the lead on the majority of powercraft training, Chris also played a key role in delivering two of Surf Life Saving Australia’s more advanced courses – the Silver Medallion Aquatic Rescue and Silver Medallion Patrol Captain. These essential certifications are vital to ensuring our patrolling members are rescue-ready and well-prepared to take on leadership roles on the beach.
Beyond his own delivery, Chris has been instrumental in mentoring probationary trainers, helping them grow their confidence, refine their delivery styles, and ultimately achieve their Trainer awards. His willingness to share knowledge, provide constructive feedback, and foster a positive learning environment has made a lasting impact on Scarboro’s training team.
Chris’s recognition as Trainer of the Year is a reflection not just of his hard work and expertise, but also of his commitment to developing the next generation of lifesavers and trainers.
On behalf of the entire Scarboro SLSC community – congratulations, Chris! Your passion and leadership continue to strengthen our club and the broader lifesaving movement.
