Lifesaving

The lifesaving events, including Champion Lifesaver, Champion Patrol, First Aid and Pool Rescue provide unique opportunities for members to test their physical fitness along with the life saving skills they have honed on the beach, including practical scenarios and theory assessments.

Champion Life Saver

This is an individual event where the competitors compete in CPR, theory paper, beach sprint, surf race, board race and rescue tube race on one day.

Champion Patrol

There are two age groups for Champion Patrol; U17 (4 members) and Open (6 members). Teams compete in a patrol scenario, CPR, a theory paper, a relay and a surf race over a day.

First Aid

This is a competition completed in pairs in u15, u17, u19 and open ages.  You are presented with a simulated scenario, a time limit and a First Aid Kit to complete whilst being marked by judges.

Pool Rescue

Pool Lifesaving competitions tests a lifesaver’s skills in rescue, accident prevention and emergency care; teaching skills that will save lives and last a lifetime.  Pool Lifesaving builds confidence, teaches teamwork, and is perfect for those who want to add an extra dimension to their swimming – and it is fun! Events include line throw, manikin or brick carries and tows, swimming with fins, swimming under obstacles and more, all done in a 50m pool.

"Participating in all of the Lifesaving events has provided me with a unique opportunity to hone my life saving skills and work with fantastic team members. Scarborough Beach can provide challenging conditions so it is important that we continue to hone our skills."
